N.W.A. Biopic Begins CastingAccording to reports, the upcoming biopic for legendary rap group N.W.A. has begun principal casting. The film will center on the origins and backstory of the pioneering gangsta rap crew from Compton, California. The project, tentatively titled Straight Outta Compton, is being directed by F. Gary Gray.
Gray has directed a wide variety of films, including Friday, The Negotiator and Set It Off.
From 1987 to 1991, N.W.A. released a string of acclaimed and controversial albums and singles. No word yet on exactly when the film is expected to hit theaters.
