Former Boogie Down Productions Member Passes Away 8:30PM ET July 18th, 2012 Contributor : Martin James A Rocky Williform Company Ms. Melodie of Boogie Down Productions has died at the age of 43. The former wife of group frontman KRS-One, Melodie was at her most visible during the group's famed "Stop the Violence" push, when she rapped one of the most memorable verses on the classic anti-crime single "Self Destruction." Her younger sister, vocalist Harmony, was also often featured with the group. Melodie released a solo debut, Diva and made an appearance in Queen Latifah's classic "Ladies First" video.
Melodie stepped away from the music business following her split from KRS and Boogie Down Productions dissolution in the early 1990s.
The cause of her death has not yet been disclosed.
